Architectural Lighting | See, Look, or Contemplate
Architectural lighting is an art and science that goes beyond merely illuminating spaces. It is not limited to simply allowing us to see, but also invites us to contemplate and admire the spaces we inhabit.
In our architectural studio, we explore lighting from three essential perspectives: comfort, sustainability, and aesthetics. We will break down how each of these aspects influences the design and perception of the spaces we inhabit.
The Different Dimensions of Lighting
When we talk about architectural lighting, we cannot forget the transformative power of light in spaces. Depending on its characteristics, it can magnify spaces, reduce them, or draw our attention to focal areas. Among the different applications of lighting in a space, the most important to consider are: aesthetic use, functional use, and, of course, efficient use.

Aesthetic Use
The effect of well-designed architectural lighting can transform a space, creating sensations and effects that have a profound influence on those who inhabit it. Aesthetic lighting allows playing with shadows, highlighting architectural elements, and creating environments that can be cozy, stimulating, or relaxing as needed.

Functional Use
Functionality is the basis of any architectural lighting design. It is not only essential to see objects and areas clearly but also to highlight specific parts and create effects that evoke particular sensations. Functional light must be sufficient to perform tasks effortlessly but also harmoniously integrated into the overall design of the space. Each individual has specific needs and a particular lifestyle. That is why we design the lighting of each project 100% personalized, always with the goal of maximum adaptation in mind.

Efficient Use
Nowadays, energy efficiency is a crucial aspect of any architectural lighting design. This is mainly achieved through the application of LED lights, which are not only durable and low-consumption but also offer a wide range of design options. Efficient lighting not only reduces operating costs but is also a sustainable choice that minimizes environmental impact.
Play of Lights
Casa Clement | Dressing Room – Vanity Area
The vanity-dressing area of Casa Clement is an excellent example of how architectural lighting can transform and enhance a space. Below, it is detailed how the three fundamental aspects of architectural lighting are applied in this design: aesthetics, functionality, and efficiency.
Aesthetics
Aesthetic lighting in Casa Clement is evident in the way designers have used light to highlight architectural and design features of the space. The perimeter lighting around the central mirror creates an attractive focal point and highlights the vanity area, making it stand out visually.
DECORATIVE LIGHTING
The warm lighting framing the vanity mirror evokes a cozy and elegant feeling, inviting contemplation.
MATERIAL ENHANCEMENT
The soft light highlights the texture and color of the light wood used in the furniture, as well as the black metal frames of the glass partitions, creating an attractive visual contrast.
Functionality
The functionality of the lighting in this space is key to its daily use. The light is designed to provide adequate and comfortable illumination for the activities carried out in the vanity and dressing room.
GENERAL LIGHTING
The recessed ceiling lights ensure uniform and sufficient lighting throughout the space, allowing clear visibility and easy task performance.
FOCUSED LIGHT
The light framing the mirror is ideal for vanity activities, providing direct and adequate illumination for makeup or grooming, eliminating annoying shadows and improving visibility.
Efficiency
Casa Clement also incorporates efficiency elements into its lighting design, aligning with modern trends of sustainability and energy saving.
LED LIGHTS
It is likely that the lights used are LED, known for their low energy consumption and long lifespan, contributing to the energy efficiency of the home.
LIGHTING CONTROL
The ability to adjust the intensity of the lighting allows for the ambiance to be adapted according to needs, improving efficiency and creating different atmospheres without wasting energy.
